El Golfo - Small Fishing Village on the West Coast - for Seafood Lovers

El Golfo
El Golfo is a tiny fishing village at the end of the country road which comes from Yaiza, from the last roundabout when you leave the village Yaiza in direction to Playa Blanca. You may also drive on the very interesting and exciting road from the Salinas at the Playa Janubio - the salt pans between Yaiza and Playa Blanca. From here the road follows the coast line through rough black lava fields. You pass the sightseeing place "Los Hervideros" (washed out lava caves at the rocky cost) where you can walk through and watch water and waves underneath in the lava cave.

When you drive further on to El Golfo you will have the feeling that the lava ashes and black lava rocks just have been fallen down from the sky last week - everything seems to be fresh and it looks as just happened.
This road is an adventure - look to the different colours of the rocks, the Timanfaya Mountains, the colors of the ocean and the rough landscape. You never will forget this Lanzarote impressions.

El Golfo view from the seaside
El Golfo is located at the end of the road between the
Timanfaya Mountains and the wild rough ocean.

If you follow the street signs you finally will reach El Golfo - at the end of that road, at a small beach surrounded by all the lava rocks which came down from the Timanfaya Mountains chewy flowing into the ocean.

The village is famous for fantatsic sunsets while having your dinner sitting on one of the lovely terraces in the restaurants and bars next to the ocean watching the spactacle. Take your camera with you and try to catch one of these unique sun sets.

In the small fishing village El Golfo you find several very good restaurants which serve local food, fresh fish and fantastic seafood. We can recommend this place: take some hours of your holiday time and enjoy the calmness at that place and the marvellous nature crowned with an unforgetable sunset (...if the weather gives you the chance).

El Golfo Sun Set

A walk from the first car park on the left side before entering the village down to the "Green Lagoon" and along the black beach is a very interesting and relaxing adventure.

The "Green Lagoon" has its color from algas which are growing in that little salt lake at the bottom of the bizarrely structured high rocks. Opposite of this lagoon the black sandy bay opens to the ocean and you may watch high waves rolling into the bay ending with white sea foam. This place gives you a very special feeling of the rough elements of the nature on Lanzarote combined with the ever shining sun and the never quiet ocean.
